Housing

The quality of life for Bayview clients is enhanced through housing options that integrate managing mental illness and substance abuse recovery with practical independent living skills. Bayview’s housing opportunities are devoted specifically to those dealing with chronic and persistent mental health issues. Each unit has a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living area or access to a recreational area. The housing environments are considered independent housing but are monitored by Housing staff. Our housing resources include the following:

Supervised Housing:
Supervised Housing is for persons with a history of psychiatric hospitalization to provide an opportunity to learn community living skills in a semi-independent environment. Bayview staff is on site 24 hours a day. Services include assistance with basic living skills, medication monitoring and education, daily staff visits, case management and membership to FOCUS House.

Satellite Housing:
Satellite Housing is for persons with a demonstrated ability to maintain themselves on medication and who have mastered community living skills such as shopping, cooking and other common daily living tasks. Supportive services provided include weekly staff visits case management, and FOCUS House membership.

Permanent Housing:
Permanent Housing is reserved for mentally ill individuals who have a substance abuse history and have been deemed homeless according to HUD requirements. Housing availability is reserved for clients that have gone through a transitional housing program and are able to function more independently.

Next Step:
Next Step is reserved for homeless individuals with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse and serious mental illness. Staff are available 24 hours a day and provide a supportive housing environment including a variety of treatment and recovery-based services.
